Your promotions don’t need to be one-and-done
Story sequencing is a technique used to give your promotions more punch. Push the message over multiple posts to supercharge engagement!
What would that even look like?
Multi-part, emotional progression. If you fix roofs, it might talk about the progress of one of your jobs. Make sure you include emotion (your client’s story), the benefits you offer (to promote your brand), some problems you solved and why your client was so happy at the end of the exchange. Include their testimonial and deliver a good story.
It doesn’t need to be a cliff-hanger!
Engagement gets a big boost
If I’m not looking to get my roof repaired, this probably won’t be of interest, BUT if I keep seeing your story as I scroll and the progression looks fun I’ll be more engaged with the story. Might even give you a follow to see how it ends - far more than if you’d just put ‘10% off roof cleaning in June’.
(There’s still a place for that, though).
Sweet, sweet Retention
As people see the story progress, they’re far more likely to retain the messages, especially if they’re repeated. What’s that, you’re friendly and helpful throughout the story? Guess that’s proof!
Retention lasts, too. So when they do need their roof fixed, guess who pops into their head?
Finally, enjoy a bigger connection
Kinda like how you feel connected to those rom-com actors, rooting for them to finally find love. People will be able to put themselves in the place of your clients. They relate to the happiness shown or that feeling of success – and you’re the catalyst for that emotion. Yay!
Remember: Assume people miss your messages
You don’t see all of our messages. Even if you follow us and interact often on Facebook, Instagram AND LinkedIn, you’ll never see all our stuff. So when you’re building your story, make sure it has plenty of parts and they’re memorable enough can be re-engaged with when needed!
So sit down with the team and come up with a great story!
