Just Hockey and Cricket Express were the leaders in their sports - delivering quality gear, good prices and a personal touch to their customers. Along come challengers benefitting from online only stores to help them undercut the competition - so they needed a way to remain competitive, front of mind and to remind the hockey and cricket communities that getting friendly, expert advice almost always trumps online convenience.

The Plan

Plans began for a big push creating a loyalty programme and linking it to their newly created web/inventory system. By motivating people to stay within the Just Hockey ecosystem, they could advertise and appeal to their subscriber base as needed. On top of that, it was decided to push their in-house brands. Quality equipment that couldn't be purchased elsewhere to introduce buyers to their brand of service.

The Delivery

Posters and promotions went out to local clubs. The MVP program was linked, promoted and prioritised. In-house brands were packaged and sold to new and existing players with the goal of getting them registered while providing the great service Just Hockey were known for. Their competitors are still around, however, they're competing on price and paying to have their brand noticed, while Just Hockey are riding the wave of recommendations and promotional appeal.
